Treat a Yeast Infection With Yogurt
By Jessica Flowers
You may have heard how you can treat a yeast infection with yogurt. Is this true and how do you go about? Here I'll answer what you need to know on how to treat a yeast infection with yogurt.
Yogurt as a yeast infection remedy can work very well. It basically fights off the bad bacteria that is causing the infection to occur. Yogurt contains healthy bacteria which puts bad bacteria in its place.
1. Only use yogurt which contains healthy bacteria known as L. acidophilus.
You will be able to find this on the label. It will either mention acidophilus and/or "live cultures". This is what you want to use for your treatment. A safe bet is first looking for plain yogurt. Usually these will contain the healthy live culture bacteria you are looking for. Now days there are so many different yogurts out there in all kinds of different flavors. I always go straight for the plain yogurts for treatment reasons. Plus I just don't like the idea of using added sugars and flavorings for treatment purposes.
2. Take Orally or Apply.
Now there are two ways you can perform your yeast infections yogurt treatment. Many simply eat an 8oz. serving of live culture yogurt a day to experience relief. Others have reported that actually applying the yogurt to the vagina can help. This is usually more the case with other vaginal infections, but some have reported results with yeast infection relief. Make sure if you apply, that you only use plain yogurt. You don't want to apply sugar added yogurt as it can make things worse.
